Just A Little Light Reading

Last year, I voraciously devoured everything Keigo Higashino had written (that had been translated into English), based on a recommendation of one of his novels – The Devotion of Suspect X. I was so engaged in his writing, that I felt like I was finally discovering what it was like to read for pleasure again!

I think all the reading I did for my classes, though sometimes engaging, put me off for a while. Therefore, one of my goals this year is not just to read more, but to revisit books I haven’t read in a long time. This week, I put together a list of five books that I want to revisit and why I want to revisit them!

Two Eats

I’m sorry for the lack of posts these last two weeks, but I have been feeling so under the weather with my health issues that I wasn’t really up to it. This week though, I’m back on track and wanted to share two new restaurants I went to (and I can’t wait to go back!).

A Day in Boston

Hello everyone! I hope you’re getting the New Year off to a positive start! As I mentioned in my last post, I visited my friends in Boston for the weekend and I thought I’d compile what we did into a handy one-day guide to Boston. Technically, we did all these things over a few days, but that’s just because we were catching up at home, but you can accomplish all of these activities in a day-trip!

My Favorite Place

When I think of my trip to Japan in 2017, the time I can recall most vividly is that which I spent in Kyoto. I can remember the taste of the matcha ice cream with the cookie that my mom liked best and how it dripped down my hand the second time we bought it on a warm evening walking down Shijo Dori from the Yasaka Shrine towards out hotel. The click of a peach beer can is as clear as day – as if I’m still sitting in that hotel room eating melon pan and laughing with her about how her dress got stuck under her backpack for a moment, trying to figure out if she did or didn’t flash people in the street. I can still feel the floorboards under my feet and the calls of nightingales as we walked Nijo Castle.

Part of my working with my anxiety takes me back there to find relaxation from current stress and I wanted to share some photos and information from my trip with you.

Joan Day x NEOGEN Review

On December 1st, I went to the special launch event for Joan Kim‘s collaboration with NEOGEN – Joan Day & Night Cream. If you don’t know who Joan Kim is, she is a Youtuber who, in her own words, started using Youtube as a platform to document her life in motion. She has two channels (main & vlog) where she shares snippets of her life, products she’s using, and a whole host of different lifestyle-related content.

I was really excited for this collaboration because I trust Joan’s opinion. I know I’m biased because I’ve been following her on and off for a while, but in most of her product reviews, she’ll only post her opinion after using a product for some time. It’s that level of care that I automatically assumed would go into any product she would have a hand in herself. The event was really informational and confirmed my preconceived idea that Joan did take her time and was very actively involved in the formulation of this product.

The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me on what could possibly be my 1000th attempt at starting a blog. I always seem to find motivation to begin, but never follow through. After a serious health scare with my mother and subsequent therapy sessions – I keep coming back to my love of writing and sharing my experiences with people. I’m so inspired by other bloggers and vloggers to engage with the world again in an exciting and appreciative way that I’ve arrived at the precipice once again – the first post.
