I’m sorry for the lack of posts these last two weeks, but I have been feeling so under the weather with my health issues that I wasn’t really up to it. This week though, I’m back on track and wanted to share two new restaurants I went to (and I can’t wait to go back!).

I actually first went here for Joan Kim’s NEOGEN launch event and the place was so pretty, I knew I wanted to come back! I went with a friend and had their truffle mushroom udon and if I could lick the bowl clean, I would. It was SO deliciously rich (and vegetarian!!) and warm during this cold season, that I’m STILL thinking about it. If you’re looking for a great place to eat with Instagram-worthy aesthetics, I would definitely check this place out!

So Justine and I have been dying to try makgeolli after seeing some of our favorite vloggers talk about it and Take31 came up in my search as one of the best spots in town. We frequent KTown most times we hang out, but had never even heard of this place on 31st street. The wait on a Friday night was long (about an hour+), but it was for a good reason – this place, we both agreed, made us feel like we were right back in Seoul. We got dessert and the sweet potato makgeolli – the real reason we had gone – and it was SO good. I am not a drinker – I don’t drink at home and rarely drink when I go out, but we just about finished the carafe it came in. The alcohol isn’t too aggressive and the sweetness definitely paired nicely with the slightly spicy rice cakes. We had eaten beforehand because we were craving kimchi fried rice, but next time we want to try some things from this menu and their soju cocktails. Highly highly highly recommend!
